Madonna of Collemaggio - Aquila

Madonna of Collemaggio is a painted terracotta sculpture created by Saturnino Gatti in 1507. Our restoration intended to complete the emergency interventions carried out by the ICR (Central Institute of Restoration) immediately after the 2009 earthquake, which involved the movement of the sculpture from the Basilica of Collemaggio to the National Museum of Abruzzo (Munda). At the end of the restoration work, the statue returned to the Basilica of Collemaggio, inside the original niche in the right transept.
