Andrea Pozzo - Trinità dei Monti - Rome

The series of wall paintings in the former Refectory of the Trinità dei Monti Convent in Rome, representing the Wedding at Cana, was created by Father Andrea Pozzo in roughly 1693. The project involved paintings from the entire hall and other restorative efforts, such as the substitution of windows, floor renovations and plant design (see CV). The chief cause for decay in this instance was humidity in the environment and capillary rise on the walls, as well as natural damage by humans due to the use of the area as the theater of a school inside the convent. Andrea Pozzo created bold perspective illusionistic paintings, intentionally deformed in some parts, which demonstrated the unique character of his great decorative style.
